About the LCFM Board

At the Langley Community Farmer’s Market (LCFM), our board works hard to connect Farmers across the Lower Mainland to the Langley community! We contribute to our local economy, encourage healthy eating, and help ensure food security, all while connecting the rural character of Langley to our urban residents. As a non-profit society, the LCFM is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, with Directors elected to three-year terms.

The Opportunity

Successful candidates will have an interest in supporting the Langley community, local food production, economic development, healthy eating, or food security, and have the ability to contribute their time. Non-profit or Board experience is helpful but not required. Directors participate in developing the strategic direction of the LCFM, provide oversight of market operations, represent the Market as needed in the community or at meetings with partners, and contribute personal and professional skills to support the growth of the LCFM. Directors are expected to attend and participate in Board and relevant Committee meetings. Directors can expect to spend an average of 4-6 hours per month on LCFM-related work, which includes preparing for and attending meetings.

The LCFM is prioritizing candidates with expertise and experience in the following areas:

  • Bookkeeping: Understanding of best practices in the stewardship of financial records to ensure transparency, accountability, and sound governance in support of the organization’s mission.
  • Note-taking: Proficiency in taking professional notes and the ability to transform those notes into Meeting Minutes and Agendas for distribution to the Board for our Monthly meetings.
  • Fundraising: Understanding of best practices in fundraising and/or experience soliciting sponsorships.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! Please submit a one-page Letter of Interest and a resume to langleymarket@gmail.com as soon as possible, with the subject line “Board Application“. The Letter should describe why you would like to join the Board, what qualities you will bring to the Board, and any roles you believe you might be a good fit for.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until Friday, March 6, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview and then voted in at our Annual General Meeting on Friday, March 27, 2026.
